Where to begin?
The sabbatical has finally comes through! It’s already May, and not being one to assume anything, had kept myself from believing it would work out, but it has. Knowing how it can often take several weeks to regroup once the academic year ends, I’m determined to make sure I segue right into practice mode. So here’s the plan – learn one sonata a month. Starting now! I had learned No. 7 last summer and loved it. So start at the very beginning (a very good place to start). No. 1 looks to be a young man’s work; musically swashbuckling and also not too long. Great combo, given that school is still in session and one needs to blow off steam as students’ anxiety over final exams build. And this will get me in ‘practice mode’ so when the year ends, I’m already in process and won’t lose time.
